Brokenness, betrayal, abandonment, shame, contempt. These are not the words you want to come to mind when you look at our family photo prayer card on your fridge. We were three months away from being commissioned formally to become missionaries at our church. That title was held on a pedestal; everyone seemed to be pleased with my family. I was on cloud nine, with three well-dressed children. Then, my picture-perfect world shattered into pieces as my husband confessed sin issues in his life.
Our home church discontinued our ministry, and no consensus could be reached on how to treat our family under this new light. Eventually, we had to leave the church. We lost many friends as rumors brewed around town. This was the darkest year of our lives. Depression and Satan’s lies led to panic attacks and suicidal thoughts. However, it also marked a starting point of a healing journey, a journey in which we seek to be authentic, to explore our life stories and our wounded hearts.
Since then, God has done great things and has been good to our family. Most importantly, God is growing us. Translating God’s Word through Love God Greatly had sustained me through many sleepless nights. My SOAP and translation work puts God’s Word in my life, word by word, keystroke by keystroke.
Hebrews 10:25 instructs us not to abandon meeting with other believers. As I translated this verse for our Jesus our Everything study, it hit me like a ton of bricks. “But, God, I am hurt! I don’t trust people, and I hate religious hypocrites!” That is when I heard God say through His Word, “Yating, do you love me? Haven’t I forgiven the sins of your family? If I have, so shall you, my child.”
The truth is, no church, or even family, in any country, can provide the sense of belonging that God intended us to find in Him. I yearn to belong, to dwell in the house of the Lord (Ps 27:4). No church on earth is perfect, every home and family have struggles. I was wounded by both. If we look to these broken vessels to fulfill our cravings, then we, inevitably, will be disappointed. Does it mean that we no longer rub shoulders with broken souls and reject God’s churches? Quite the contrary! God wants us to lean into brokenness, love mercy, and walk humbly with others (Mc 6:8), then, bring all the wounds and longings before His throne, to rest and dwell in His Truth.
We were made for community, as God Himself is a triune God, constantly communing with His Son and the Holy Spirit. Oh yes! Aren’t we all made for community? Love God Greatly provides community for me. It allows me to reach out to Chinese women across the world. One keystroke at a time.
I count my blessings to be a part of this ministry. I do not know how to measure the impact of the Love God Greatly Chinese translation, but I promised the Lord that as long as there is one woman in the world that benefits from it, I will keep doing it.

Hey I received my Shame Breaker Bible study and they sent me the wrong translation I need the English translation instead of the one I got ( I don’t know the translation I got) Thank you! Amy
