REJOICE
No other person in history has ever had as many songs written about His birth as Jesus of Nazareth. Not even close.
Yet, the very first songs of Advent were not composed by Bach or Handel, nor were they called “Silent Night” or “Joy to the World.” The very first songs about the birth of our Savior were recorded in the Gospel of Luke and were sung by 1st century Jews: Mary, Zechariah, and Simeon as well as a stunning angelic choir whose sound must have been out of this world!
Rejoice is a four-week Bible study exploring the very first songs around the birth of Jesus. This journal includes daily readings and SOAP verses, devotions to aid in understanding, reflection questions, and encouragement from women around the world. Perfect for personal or small group study, Rejoice will encourage us to join in with others in praising Jesus as we meditate on the very first Christmas.
REJOICE KID’S JOURNAL
Have you ever wondered why we do so much singing during the Advent season? The very first songs of Advent were not composed by Bach or Handel, nor were they called “Silent Night” or “Joy to the World.” The very first songs about the birth of our Savior were recorded in the Gospel of Luke and were sung by 1st-century Jews: Mary, Zechariah, Simeon, as well as a stunning angelic choir whose sound must have been out of this world!
We know why we sing at Christmas. God Himself has come to us! He left heaven and came into our lost world because He loves us.
We will spend four weeks listening to these devout Jews and to the angels express their joy at the birth of the long-awaited Messiah. Designed as a companion study with Rejoice, this Love God Greatly study journal contains a four-week reading plan with daily readings and SOAP pages. Also included are daily devotions, weekly activity pages, and parent’s connection pages. We hope you and your child will join us for Rejoice and Rejoice for Kids as we intentionally create space for God to fill during the season of Advent.

The Greatest Story
I love that we get to see God's heart for the humble and lowly all throughout Scripture. His pursuit of all people is on display from cover to cover. But in Luke 2 there's something spectacular that takes place that we don't want to miss. Let's first wrap our minds...
The Gift of Salvation
Have you ever had to wait for an exciting purchase to come in the mail? Though the shipping only takes 3-5 business days, it feels like several weeks before the item finally appears at your door. When I was a junior in high school, I really wanted a pair of sneakers...
A Fresh Look at the Nativity
The Nativity of Christ is the most powerful and uniquely heavy scene of humility in all of history. Each Christmas season, our family reads the account of Jesus’ birth. We read of the tension of Joseph and Mary having no place to stay in the inn. We see Jesus coming...
The Words of Christ
I love Mary’s song of purity and joy to the LORD after finding out she was chosen to carry the long-awaited Messiah. It is filled with powerful truths of God’s mercy and might, revealed only by the Spirit of God. It showcases the heart-posture God desires: those who...
Understanding the Fear of God
Think of someone who you fear. Now, think of someone who you esteem and respect. Do these happen to be the same person? If you are like me, then the answer is no. For me, it is difficult to read the word “fear” in the Scripture without having an appropriate context...
Leaping for Joy
My friend invited me to attend a worship concert at her church, and we arrived just as the music started to soar. We scooted into two empty seats in the back row of the sanctuary, but we never sat down and actually remained standing for the duration of the service. I...
Holding Tightly to Hope
Nothing God does is done in a vacuum and without purpose. Nothing! Everything He does has a plan, purpose, and intent. Even though we know that God is completely in control, it is also ok to ask, “Father, what are you doing?” Hope Against All Odds The world was in...
Deep-Seated Peace
Most of us have probably held a sweet, little baby before - maybe our own children, or a friend’s newborn, or a tiny niece or nephew. And we probably wondered what this little baby might grow up to be like. Will he or she love to read? Or be the fastest runner in...
Healing What Was Broken
I grew up as the accident-prone child in our family. Even though I had two older brothers, I still was the one who had the most hospital visits, broken bones, and stitches. While I do not remember every detail of these incidents, I do remember one aspect that was the...
The Dawn of A New Light
Something I really love is the light of early morning. Whether I’ve just had a good night's sleep or tossed and turned all night, that first light shining in my bedroom signals: it’s go-time. Now, sometimes “go-time” means I have to get up and get ready for work....
Hope Delivered
Doubt Turned to Praise Today we look further into Zechariah’s song. Zechariah was the father of John the Baptist, the cousin of Jesus. But when the angel joyfully announced the coming birth of his son, Zechariah was plagued by doubt. His wife had been barren her whole...
From the Nations: Not Just a Story
Every Love God Greatly study highlights one of the languages we serve – our new study, Rejoice, includes the highlight of our Albanian branch! Join us in prayer for Renita, her team, and the women of her language and nation as you read her story, and help us spread...
Waiting, Hoping, Trusting
The Main Characters One of the things I really look forward to every Christmas season is the annual nativity play with the kids in church. Of course there are the main characters, Joseph, Mary, baby Jesus, but then you add in a few shepherds, wise men, angels, the inn...
Introduction to Rejoice
The word “Advent” is derived from Latin and means “coming” or “arrival.” It’s the four weeks leading up to Christmas when we remember the coming of Jesus. When we read the stories of Jesus’ birth found in the pages of the gospel of Luke, we get a glimpse of what it...

Friends, our new study translations are ready! We have the incredible privilege of announcing that our Rejoice study is now available in SIXTEEN languages, with more in the works!!! And our Rejoice for Kids is available in NINE languages with more in the works as...
