NOT MADE TO BE ALONE
Never in the history of the world has a generation of people been more “connected” than our current generation, and yet so many of us feel more alone than ever. Yes, we might feel isolated and lonely, but we don’t have to live that way. In this study, you will learn what a biblical community looks like and how to cultivate it in your life. There is life beyond loneliness.
We were made for community in a general sense and also in specific areas of our lives. In this four-week study, we will focus on how God has made us for community with Himself, our family and friends, our local church, and the world.
Not Made to Be Alone: Created for Community in a Lonely World is a four-week Bible study on the importance of community. This journal includes daily readings and SOAP verses, devotions to aid in understanding, and reflection questions and encouragement from women around the world. Perfect for personal or small group study, Not Made to Be Alone will help you cultivate and keep biblical community.

Go and Tell
“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” – Matthew 28:19–20 As a...
Show Compassion
Have you ever seen anyone in a lot of pain? It is worse if it is someone you know and love. It can be difficult to know what to do. Love should motivate us to want to do something for that person. Men often find it really difficult watching their wives in so much pain...
Love Your Neighbor
There we were, ready for a great dinner out with our friends. Then our waitress showed up. I don’t know if she was having a bad day or what, but she was not happy to be there. It started off with some shortness towards us, then some frustrated sighing, and eventually...
The Gift of Gathering
Recently this saying came to mind, “You don’t appreciate what you have until it’s gone,” and it got me thinking about things in life that, sometimes, we take for granted. It’s hard to believe we are three years on from the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic that...
A Sacred Lineage
There are moments in my life when I feel lonely, anxious, and sad. Some seasons, I feel these emotions more than others. I think the whole world has felt these emotions in a heightened way due to the crises our world has gone through, and is still going through. There...
From Isolation to Community
Over the past three years, my husband and I have walked through what has become the most difficult season or years of our lives. Three years ago, my husband and I began trying to grow our family. What began as a fun and exciting and highly anticipated season of joy...
Bear With One Another
“Therefore, as the elect of God, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with a heart of mercy, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience, bearing with one another and forgiving one another, if someone happens to have a complaint against anyone else. Just as the...
Journey Toward Humility
“Instead of being motivated by selfish ambition or vanity, each of you should, in humility, be moved to treat one another as more important than yourself. Each of you should be concerned not only about your own interests, but about the interests of others as well. You...
Community in Families
There is a saying that “No person is an island.” As human beings we don’t cope well when isolated from others. We need to be part of a community in order to thrive. Our lives are interconnected with those around us. While it is occasionally wise to take some time to...
I Will Take Hold of You
I stood before the vast ocean with wide eyes full of fear as the waves mercilessly crashed into the shore. The wall of water stood taller than my 10-year old tiny self, and I didn’t want to go in, because I was certain I’d end up dragged away into the deep darkness...
The Vine
I'll never forget the words that the Lord spoke over me when life as I knew it walked out on me and my children. As tears streamed down my face, I watched his car drive away from our home. I kept questioning if I would be enough for him to stay and choose us. Almost...
Together in Unity
I am the fifth child in a big family, and I have always wanted to share thoughts, experiences, laughter, and life with others. In my family, we took care of our brothers and sisters. It was important to maintain a connection with each other as we built a community of...
Created for Community
“God created humankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them, male and female he created them.” - Genesis 1:27 As God was creating this earth, He called each of His creations good, and when He came to the creation of humans, He deemed them very good....
Introduction
Let me first say, I know this is hard. “Living in community” sounds like it should be so easy, and some people do make it look effortless. But let me be upfront before we begin this four-week journey into cultivating community in our lives. This is not easy. Yes, we...
