SOAP our new study, Triumph Over Trials, with us today!

Have you ever felt overwhelmed with the number of “Christian” voices clamoring for your attention? Do you struggle not knowing who to listen to or what to believe? In today’s verses, Peter makes it very clear who the real author of the Bible is…and it’s not him.

“Above all, you do well if you recognize this: No prophecy of scripture ever comes about by the prophet’s own imagination, for no prophecy was ever borne of human impulse; rather, men carried along by the Holy Spirit spoke from God.” – 2 Peter 1:20-21

Some like to think of the Bible as a love letter from God to us. It tells a beautiful testimony of what God went through to redeem His children. Each page whispers His name and shows how much God loves us and what He was willing to do to save us. Every parable and promise in the Bible was given to us with the help of the Holy Spirit.

These words are not man-made words but words directly from God’s heart to ours.

And the best part? The Bible is for everyone! Don’t believe the lie that only certain people can understand the Bible. You don’t need to be a Bible scholar or have a Bible degree. God wants everyone to read His Word for themselves and not solely lean on what others say about the Bible. God wants you to read it yourself and know what He says.

With the help of the Holy Spirit, you can understand what the Bible says as you spend more and more time reading it, meditating on it, and praying for increased wisdom and understanding, and applying it to your life. While God has blessed some people with an incredible teaching gift to help others understand God’s Word better, you must be in Scripture yourself to know what it says and discern when someone is teaching something contrary to God’s Word.

Sadly, we live in a very deceptive age, and some “Bible” teachers twist God’s Words or take them out of context to fit their own agendas. That is why it is imperative that you are in God’s Word from the Old Testament to the New Testament…all of it is God-breathed and useful in your life (2 Timothy 3:16-17). When we are in God’s Word, we are less likely to be led astray by false teaching.

Read God’s Word. Study God’s Word, and hide God’s Word in your heart. You can do this! Open God’s Word and read it yourself. It was written for you and for His glory!
