But he was pierced for our transgressions; he was crushed for our iniquities; upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace, and with his wounds we are healed. – Isaiah 53:5
Christ took the thrashings and held still for His nailing, even though He did not deserve them. Christ wore a crown of thorns even though His true crown is mightier than any sword. Christ hung on the cross even though He could have gotten down. He chose to bear the pain of the entire world’s sins while knowing we would keep on sinning.
He did it all for the fulfillment of Scripture and out of love for others. His every humiliation saved the world from condemnation. And in the end, He gave up His spirit to send us a new beginning through the Holy Spirit.
Great Healer, the scars of your Son bring peace to our hearts and heal the holes in our souls! Let us look at His birth and His death on the cross and His resurrection and know You are for us!
