It is amazing, and somewhat confusing, why God would choose, seemingly, the most unlikely circumstances to pronounce some of the most significant blessings in Scripture. Abraham did not yet know God when he received his blessing, and Jesus was still on the cross when He proclaimed “It is finished”.
The fulfillment of God’s Word is not dependent on us, or our present circumstances. Rather, fulfillment of promises and Scripture rests on God’s shoulders, since He is in control and sees the big picture. He simply calls us to walk in faith with Him as He leads us daily.
God fulfils His promises.
God fulfilled His promise to Abraham that he would be given the land of Canaan, have descendants as many as the stars, and that his family would be a blessing to the world.
Even greater than this fulfillment, we see God’s greatest promise to send a Savior. As Jesus hung on the cross, He fulfilled countless prophecies and promises, which started in Genesis 3:15. God did not forget. He watched and patiently waited. When it was time, He brought the promise to fulfillment.
As another year ends, most of us are taking stock of our lives and might be asking, “When will these things happen for me?” “When will the answers to these prayers come?”
Can I remind you that, as you celebrate Christmas, you are celebrating the fulfillment of a promise made by God thousands of years ago? The miracle that, through the seed of Abraham all nations of the earth will be blessed. Jesus is that seed! He is the fulfillment of that promise. Friend, God always keeps His promises. They may not look like we expect, but He always comes through.
Jesus came to restore our broken relationship with God.
He came to make sure that all who believe in Him will be reconciled back to God and enjoy His blessings. Apart from Jesus, our lives are in chaos. Our hearts feel empty and in need of comfort and companionship that only God can give. Jesus came to fill that emptiness so that we would be restored to the original relationship with God, where His blessings flow and flow.
No matter your skin color, nationality, race, language, or educational background, Jesus, the seed of Abraham, is here to restore back to us our relationship with God so that we can enjoy His blessings.
