What is the source of your security?

Is it your family? Your friends? Your relationships? Your plans for your future?

A recent survey revealed that over 60% of women experience hurtful, self-critical thoughts, dealing with insecurity on a weekly basis.

As we consider all of the issues that women face in a chaotic and changing world, it may not surprise you that so many women deal with overwhelming insecurities every single day.

But it is God who establishes us together with you in Christ and who anointed us, who also sealed us and gave us the Spirit in our hearts as a down payment.  2 Corinthians 1:21-22

What is the solution to instability and insecurity in an unstable and chaotic world?

For those who believe in Jesus Christ, the answer can only be found in God Himself.

From the very moment that one places all of her trust and hope in Jesus Christ, God seals her with the promised Holy Spirit.

When God places His seal, the Holy Spirit, within us, He is permanently identifying that we belong to Him forever.

God’s seal is the source of our security. It will never fail, because God can not fail.

Once we are sealed, we can be secure in our identity as God’s chosen.

Once we are sealed, we can be secure in God’s promises to us.

Once we are sealed, we can be secure in God’s purpose for us.

Once we are sealed, we can be secure in God’s protection of us.

Not just for a little while.

Not just when we are “good.”

But for all eternity.

God is fully committed to an active, intimate, and personal relationship with each one of His daughters, even on the days when we are not committed to Him.

And when you heard the word of truth (the gospel of your salvation)—when you believed in Christ—you were marked with the seal of the promised Holy Spirit…  -Ephesians 1:13

When our circumstances are uncertain or when life brings us pain, we remember that we have been sealed eternally by God.

When we struggle with the instability that life will inevitably bring, we take refuge in our “identification card,” which is signed by our Almighty God. We quickly meditate on God’s promises of eternal and unconditional love and we stand firmly on the truth that God is our source of strength, stability, and protection forever.

The world may change, but God won’t.

People may fail us, but God won’t.

You and I may struggle in life, but God won’t.

No matter what we do, no matter how we fail, God’s people are perfectly secure in God’s love forever.

If God is committed to providing you with His constant reassurance that you are His forever, how committed are you to believing that you possess it?

What struggle, disappointment, or sorrow is tempting you to doubt your eternal security with God? How can we be praying for you as you begin to seek God alone for security and stability in your life?

  1. Thank you Terria for sharing this great news of our security in our identity in Christ. It means so much to me to know how He takes care of me, envelopes me and is always loving and protecting me. I hope to encourage others who flail in their identity, especially who look to the world for identity sources.
