Matthew 6:9-13
9 In this manner, therefore, pray: Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be Your name. 10 Your kingdom come. Your will be done On earth as it is in heaven. 11 Give us this day our daily bread. 12 And forgive us our debts, As we forgive our debtors. 13 And do not lead us into temptation, But deliver us from the evil one. For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen
SOAP – Matthew 6:12-13
Jesus has given us a model for prayer which acknowledges God’s forgiveness of us along with our command to forgive others. Because God wishes His will to be done on earth, Christians are to willingly be His hands and feet, offering His love, mercy, and forgiveness to those who do not deserve it.
In what areas do your thoughts on forgiveness need to change? Prior to salvation, biblical forgiveness was impossible apart from Christ. However, after salvation, all things are possible with the power of God, because it is His great love that should reign in our lives. When we place His desires over our own, we truly are walking worthy of our calling as God’s children.
Father God, I thank You for allowing me the privilege of representing You here on earth. Remind me daily of the power You have given me to forgive. Help me continue each day to press toward the prize of the high calling of God. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
