John 1:26-30

26 John answered them, saying, “I baptize with water, but there stands One among you whom you do not know.  27 It is He who, coming after me, is preferred before me, whose sandal strap I am not worthy to lose.” 28 These things were done in Bethabara[a] beyond the Jordan, where John was baptizing. 29 The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, “Behold! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!  30 This is He of whom I said, ‘After me comes a Man who is preferred before me, for He was before me.’

SOAP –  John 1:29

In the Old Testament, God made provision for the Israelites by commanding them to sacrifice a perfect lamb on Passover to die in place of their firstborn children. Jesus Christ became the perfect Lamb of God by becoming the only worthy sacrifice for all of mankind. Through Him, all sin is defeated.

In whom are you placing your trust, hope, and security?  Jesus, the Lamb of God, lived in sinless perfection, made the willing sacrifice to become sin, and accepted the fullness of God’s wrath against sin for all of mankind. He did that willingly and selflessly so that you and I would not have to endure it. Jesus can be trusted with all that we are, all that we endure, and all that we hope to become.

Father God, I thank You that one Man’s sacrifice has defeated sin, defeated Satan, and made me blameless in Your sight. Lord, never let me take His sacrifice for granted. Give me the boldness to share the Lamb’s sacrifice with all that I encounter. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
