My husband and I have been pastors for 17 years. My husband has always been involved with activities throughout the church, and I am directly involved with the Ministry of Women and Music.
In our church we always prioritize the Word of God, so every month I provide a new Bible study to our women, buying materials and searching for ideas on the internet. That’s how I found LGG. Before sharing the studies with the women of my church, I do them on my own first so I can learn the material. I simply fell in love with LGG, and did two studies, by myself, before I started with our women. It was all I needed!
Life as a pastor’s wife is not easy, but I love it so much, especially caring for people. But we always need to give a lot, and the LGG studies were the tool that God used to treat areas of my life where I needed it so much.
The first LGG study I did was Esther (“For a Time Like This”) in 2014. It was in this study that I began to think that not only women in my city and in my church could be blessed by these studies, but all Portuguese women. I saw that there were already translations in other languages, but Portuguese was not available. At the time, I was studying in English.
So, I sent an email to LGG asking if they were interested in translating the material into Portuguese. I figured that, with so many women following the ministry and sending emails, they would not respond.
I was wrong.
After a week I received a response to my email that said: “Yes! But no one has come to us to volunteer as a translator.”
My heart was tight, and I heard God tell me, “Say you’ll do it, Helen, I chose you for a time like this.”
It took me a long time to decide. I was afraid to say yes, I questioned God, and I even tried to change my mind … but it was impossible …At that moment I felt like Esther, coming into the presence of the king. I trembled in front of the computer typing the email saying that I was willing to be the translator, even in the face of so many responsibilities in our church, and some limitations, I said yes!
I’m sure that God smiled because He already knew the great adventure I would experience by participating in LGG.
Dear friend, I do not know what your biggest challenge is today, but I assure you, saying yes to God and everything He loves, is to live a little piece of heaven here on earth! I have lived this for almost 5 years as a translator of this incredible ministry!
