Abraham, to me, is one of the greatest fathers of faith! Not because he did much, but because he dared to believe God would give him descendants as numerous as the stars in the sky when he did not have a child. How could he believe a God he did not know before? How could he believe God would give Him descendants as numerous as the stars in the sky when he had no child? How?

How do you believe God when nothing, absolutely nothing around you looks like what He has said? How do you believe God for thousands when you do not even have tens?

Let’s look at Genesis 15:4:

But look, the Lord’s message came to him: “This man will not be your heir, but instead a son who comes from your own body will be your heir.”

There is absolutely nothing on your own that you can do to make what God has said to you to come to pass. You can only believe Him like Abraham did and daily choose to live in obedience to Him. All He needs in order to fulfill His promises of blessings to you and yours are within His power, “For nothing will be impossible with God” (Luke 1:37).

Like Abraham in Genesis 15:6, all you need do is believe Him. Even when you do not see it, even when nothing around you looks like it, even when people mock your faith and persecute you, even when you feel like helping God, believe Him. When you do, God is glorified. You honor Him as you trust and wait only on and in Him.

“Abram believed the Lord, and the Lord credited it as righteousness to him.”

–Genesis 15:6

The whole Bible is an amazing fulfilment of this promise of descendants. Abraham’s descendants today are numerous, uncountable. How do we know that? Galatians 3:15-18 tells us this covenant was fulfilled in Christ and all who believe God are considered children of Abraham.

How glorious! God fulfills His covenants. He has more than enough power to do it. It is not dependent on you to fulfill it, it is only dependent on you to believe. As the year is coming to an end I know you are thinking of the unanswered prayers, things yet to be done. Instead, believe like Abraham! You are blessed when you believe (Luke 1:45).

Dear LORD, thank You for being so powerful to say a thing and do it. Thank You for Your promises to me. I believe, please help my unbelief. Daily, please, hold my hands as I trust You for the fulfillment of all You have said concerning my life and family. In Jesus name, amen.
