God’s words are powerful! We know this truth, right? But do we really understand how powerful they are? I think if we did, we’d value being in His Word more and savor them more in our hearts. I mean, when we stop and contemplate the true power of God’s words, how can we doubt Him? How can we not believe His promises?
The Bible tells us God spoke our world into existence. SPOKE. Of all the different ways God could have created the heavens and the earth, He chose to do so with words. God took what was nothing and spoke life into it and from those powerful words brought forth light out of the darkness.
“And God said, “Let there be light, and there was light…” Genesis 1:3
Over and over again in Genesis 1, we read, “And God said…” and through His words, He created stars and galaxies, animals and humans. His words set boundaries between water and land and created breathtaking beauty and wonder out of empty nothingness. He spoke forward into the earth and all He created and said it was good.
From reading Genesis 1, we learn God’s Words are powerful, and they matter. Isn’t it amazing how the same God who can bring a universe into existence has also chosen to speak directly to us?!!!
And you know what? Not only are God’s words powerful, but they are also important. So important in fact that they will never pass away.
“Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away.” – Matthew 24:35
God’s words are permanent; they are forever; they will withstand the test of time.
“All men are like grass, and all their glory is like the flowers of the field; the grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of the Lord stands forever.” – 1 Peter 1:24-25
The only things which will last forever are God’s Words and eternal life with Him. In a day in age that is increasingly disregarding the sanctity of God’s Word, we need to put the Bible back into its proper place in our lives. Helping others, digging water wells, feeding the poor, caring for the sick…those are all good works which God uses powerfully to reveal, restore and redeem His people, but they are not a substitute or in any way more significant than people being in God’s Word. It is through the power of God’s Word that lives are changed, not our charitable works.
As we begin this powerful study, we must first realize the power of the words we are about to read and understand Who is behind them. Our verses today illustrate not only the importance God has placed on His words, but also the power within them.
God’s words are a gift…and they matter.
When Jesus was in the desert in Matthew 4:1-11 and Satan was tempting Him, how did Jesus fight back? Not with supernatural strength, but through the power of God’s Word. We need to do the same.
God’s words are important, they are powerful, and yes, they matter.
Let’s talk: How has God’s Word impacted your life?
Love God Greatly,

Hello, I’m new here. This is the first study I chose. Gods amazing words bring his promises to life. He breaths his breath into us.
Reading his word can often be the last thing on my daily check list if I’m fully honest. Looking back at my strongest moments with God have clearly been when I’ve been connected to his word so I’m wanting to dedicate more time to that starting with this study.
Thank you Lord for you everlasting word. Thank you for giving guidance and helping me with all of my decisions.
I’m new here too Paula! I’m just starting this today and am excited to catch up because I love the topic already. God had been showing me soo much every time I open His word lately, I actually get excited to go home and study for the first time in my life. And a good chunk of what He has been showing me me is my own words to people, especially my fiancé lately.
I honestly feel silly, I normally have my Bible time in the morning but am doing it tonight and I need a reminder about what SOAP means please! I am so excited to get started with this new journey, God Bless
I am confused by the scripture saying “Heaven will pass away.” I always thought Heaven was forever.
The Bible teaches that we will have a new heaven and a new earth. This earth and heaven will be destroyed in fire. See Isaiah 65:17, 2 Peter 3:12-13, Revelation 21:1, Hebrews 12:26-27, and Isaiah 66:22.
I just received my Words Matter journal. I’m excited to start this study on Monday – week one ?
Starting this study today with a group of Women from our church. The first day has been such a blessing.
Gen 1:1 In the beginning was the Word. The Word was with God and the Word was God. An example of the Trinity. Why do We have such a hard time carving out time to hear Jesus. These Words are literally Christ. I need to take more time to soak Him in just as if He were sitting here with me❤️
The word of God never lie nor fail
