The Shame of Exposure

It is Scriptures like John 8 that completely keep me in awe of God, His love, and His pursuit of me and you.

This woman was brought before the King of kings, before the one who hates sin but loves the sinner so much that He left His glory to come to earth to die. Condemnation was not what He came for, He came for life, for transformation, to help those who previously couldn’t find their way to Him. He came to help women like the one about to be stoned to death because of her shame and sin. Yes! He came to show love, to wipe away her sins and those of all those who will come to Him. Oh, how I love Jesus!

This woman’s story reminds me so much of my own. Years ago, I was neck deep in sin and shame. My life was almost over. I came to God that fateful day, covered in so much shame and guilt, and asked Him not to waste His time loving me or using me because I was too damaged for Him. I begged Him only to set me free from my troubles. Your God and mine, whose very nature is love, picked me up, cleaned me, and gave me a new life like this woman.

We do not have to live under or with shame, no matter what it is. He is the great Shame Breaker, we only have to come to Him. Crawl to Him if you have to, walk, run if you can, just come and He will do the rest. He is not like others who laugh or condemn like those in John 8. He came to save and give us new life.

“My God, I trust in you.

Please do not let me be humiliated;

do not let my enemies triumphantly rejoice over me.” -Psalm 25:2

If you trust Him, He will not let you be humiliated or live in shame any longer. He is cleaning you up, forgiving your sins, and He does not allow the enemy to triumph over you. Hallelujah!

Let us end this glorious day with Colossians 1:22:

“..but now he has reconciled you by his physical body through death to present you holy, without blemish, and blameless before him—“

Hallelujah!

Say this with me: No more shame, no more guilt. His death has made me blameless before Him. I choose to live today and always without shame and set apart to and for Him.

Next time the devil or people bring your shame up again, tell them, Jesus’ death has made me blameless before Him!

Hallelujah!
