When life gets difficult, it’s hard to sometimes understand what God is doing. Attacks seem to come upon our lives like ocean waves onto a shore. One right after another.
When this happens, God’s promises seem distant and far and our hearts begin to doubt whether or not His promises are even true.
That’s why Colossians 1:15-16 is so important.
Though God is invisible, Jesus is not.
When we wonder what God is like, all we have to do is look to Jesus.
We must remember when doubts and fears begin to creep into our minds and hearts this important truth: ALL things, both in heaven and on earth have been created by Him and for Him. That means this whole world, as crazy as it seems…is still under His control.
We can rest in this truth that no matter who is in power in our countries, companies, schools or any other organization, JESUS is ultimately in control over all.
Jesus is above all things and He has no rival.
JESUS, the visible image of our invisible God.
When we find ourselves wondering what God is really like, if He really even cares about us as our world seems to spiral out of control, all we have to do is look to the life of Christ.
When we do, we see a sinless Savior who willingly died on the cross for the sinful.
We see a Savior who walked the dirty streets of His day, broke bread with His friends around dinner tables, healed the sick and had compassion on those others would not.
In Colossians 1:17 it states Jesus holds all things together.
Because of who Jesus is, we can take comfort in the promise that He holds all things together, even our broken and crazy lives.
Sweet friends, we have not been promised an easy life. We have not been promised a life without trials, pain or betrayal. What we have been promised is that no matter where we’ve been, where we are or where we are going…God is with us. (John 16:33)
From the beginning of time, Jesus has been at work in our world and in our lives. Nothing is a coincidence as He continues to write the most amazing redemption story of all time through His redemptive work in our lives.
So no matter how messed up your life looks right now. No matter how many pieces your heart seems to be broken into, Jesus is more powerful than whatever caused you that pain. You may see your life as broken beyond repair, but Jesus sees a restoration in progress.
Rest today in the knowledge that Jesus is ultimately in control. As He holds the world together, He can hold your heart together, too.
