As a single mom of three kids, life has many challenges. However, through the difficulties, prayer has become a daily treasure. Not only do I get to spend time with God through prayer, but I’ve learned to rely on Him in my battles. I know He hears me and I know He answers.
I have also seen the power of prayer through my community, both in my local church and the community I have found through Love God Greatly. It is an incredible privilege to know that I am prayed for and to share the burdens of my dear friends from around the world by lifting them up in prayer.
Almost three years ago I lost one of my best friends. I had also recently lost my job and my house. I felt so lost in sadness. I felt isolated but also did not want to talk to anyone or share what I was going through. I thought I could do everything alone and that I did not need anyone. I believed I could get out of the hole I had dug for myself by my own strength.
One night, my car broke down in the middle of the highway. That was the last straw. I cried and turned to God once again. I needed His strength and I let Him know it. I prayed and cried for almost an hour that winter night in the middle of nowhere that His will would be done. I acknowledged that I needed Him more than ever, and I asked for His forgiveness. I asked God for grace, once again committing my heart to Him, and asked for His strength.
That night was a turning point for me as I saw my need for daily prayer. I knew my sisters around the world had been lifting me up in prayer, and I knew God had answered. When we seek God, He promises to always answer us. We can trust in Him!
