And in the same region there were shepherds out in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night.  And an angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were filled with great fear. And the angel said to them, “Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.” – Luke 2:8-11

He will tend his flock like a shepherd; he will gather the lambs in his arms; he will carry them in his bosom, and gently lead those that are with young. – Isaiah 40:11

God is a secret to no one. He reveals Himself daily in nature (Romans 1:20) and through His Word. And by the power of God, His salvation is available to all who believe (Romans 1:16)! It is only those who are seeking Him that will find Him and celebrate the gift of His Son. They are filled with hope and are carried in a gentle strength. They are protected from ruin and guided to healing.

God cares for children and those who care for them. He walks with them closely, shepherding them daily. He defends the defenseless and fathers the fatherless like a shepherd defends and cares for his sheep.

Thank you, Lord, for Your one and only Son who guides us in the light of day and surrounds us with protection in the dark of night!
