Hey friends! We are so excited about 2020 over here at Love God Greatly. We cannot wait to dig into God’s Word with you around the world. We are confident that God has big things in store for each of us!
One change you’ll notice in our materials is our transition to using the New English Translation (NET) in our study journals, devotionals, and blog posts in 2020. We know many of you are ESV fans (and we are too!) so we wanted to explain our decision to switch to the NET.
The NET is an English translation from the original Greek and Hebrew manuscripts. This translation was developed by twenty-five of the world’s leading biblical scholars. The NET also includes thousands of notes from these translators explaining their word and phrase choices. You can read more about the NET and the philosophy behind the translation here.
There are a lot of great translations out there, and we are fans of many of them. We’ve chosen to partner with Bible.org and the NET because of their heart for ministry and Bible translation.
Bible.org is an online ministry that provides free Bible study resources to Christians all over the world. Their mission is to provide resources so Christians in every culture can be equipped for global impact (sound familiar?). You can learn more about their ministry here.
Bible.org funded the translation work of the NET and they are continuing to work on translation projects in over 40 languages. An ongoing project has been started to translate the NET and the translation and study notes into the top 40 spoken languages throughout the world. This is a huge undertaking, and we are excited to partner with Bible.org and the NET as we seek to bring God’s Word to the nations.
We are thankful for ministries like Bible.org and are thrilled to partner with them as we all seek to bring God’s Word and free Bible study resources to the world.
