Our mission to help women, all women, love God greatly spans the globe. The popularity of our English studies and the generosity of our women here in the United States allow our ministry the time and resources to translate our studies and distribute them to over 100 countries for free. But sometimes resources are no good unless there are servants behind them to follow through. And that is why our translators are vital to the work God has called us to at Love God Greatly. Not only do they work together to translate our studies, but they also lead entire language branches and study groups!
Without them, over 99 countries would be underserved.
God speaks all languages. We want to serve women of all languages as well.
For 51 weeks a year, our translators communicate via facebook, zoom calls, email, and on apps that evade the constraints of multiple time zones. They check on one another, pray for each other, and cheer one another on! But there is no substitution for an in-person hug of encouragement or a listening ear across the table over early morning coffee.
For one week every other year, by the grace of God and the generosity of our readers, our translators greatly anticipate gathering from all over the world and sharing the same physical space. They savor every day spent learning at leadership intensives and nights of fellowship over dinners. The daytime schedules are…intense. And the nights are filled with laughter…and conversations that zip in and out of so many languages we can hardly keep up! And every woman present arrives a little weary or afraid, yet leaves overflowing with God’s promises and His hope!
Thank you for praying for us! Every one of our translators who planned to attend actually arrived (this wasn’t the case last year- if you remember) and returned home safe! We really want you to hear from a few who are willing to share what the Leadership Intensive meant to them.
Let’s start with Gloria, our Italian translator.
“Now in Germany it should be chilly, right?,” I think looking out the window. “Besides, we’re in mid-September!”
Instead I get off the bus at Frankfurt station after 20 hours passed on roads and highways and it’s hot that I feel like I’m on the beach! Strange sensations what I hear, in a place where I’ve never been before if not at international airport but just the smile and look of Petra, Irish living in Czech Republic, to make me realize I’m home!
One by one the familiar faces of the other girls are flooding me with their serenity and enthusiasm. It’s been a year since we’ve all seen each other… but it seems like a day ago. There is the same understanding, the same harmony and the same love of a year ago… Indeed, this is an opportunity to deepen that friendship timidly conquered the past year that now seems stronger and stronger.
It’s nice to listen to the progress of ministry compared to last year, it’s nice to remember the analysis of our personalities made in Texas and it’s nice to discover new things about how to be good leaders who never stop learning and whose only purpose is that of directing people to Christ: the only one who can really change the heart and eternity of people.
Once again I am struck by the vision, passion and balance that characterizes God greatly, in every country it is present.
I love the way in which Angela and the others take care of us as translators, making sure to make us feel the support and the sweetness of the prayers that they pray to God for each of us, all the time.
I love the way we were reminded that we are not alone, that we can do everything in the one who makes us stronger and that nothing is too hard for God if we let him drive us.
I love the enthusiasm with which they make us feel sisters in Christ and loved friends… which is not so common among the believers.
I love this ministry and the days that Angela Perritt and her team decide to spend with us considerable. They are precious days, an advance of the sky, where they don’t count names, native language or economic condition… we are women who want to reach other women with what God has given us: our language and his word, a translation at a time, one woman at a time, one life at a time!”
And now Charissa, one of our Dutch translators.
“We had a great time as translators together. We had two days of training, exchanged experiences and encouraged each other. God is faithful and blesses us! In small things it turned out that He had everything in hand. A card with an encouragement that was exactly what you needed … A hand on your shoulder and an ‘I understand you’ … A gift that suits you exactly … Training where exactly that comes to the fore what you need to grow …
What have we been training about as translators? Our teams are growing or the desire is to grow, so that we can reach more women in our countries with our free Bible study materials. That also requires leadership from us. But the transition from translator to leader is rather big. We are trained in this and we are so grateful that we have women with a lot of experience who can train us. We learn about servant leadership, to help women who work in the right place to flourish and how we keep our focus on Jesus.
There was also time for relaxation and getting to know the beautiful Germany. We have experienced a bit of history, the delicious German cuisine, the beautiful Frankfurt and the hospitality and punctuality of our eastern neighbors.
On Saturday we had the conference in Frankfurt. We were able to welcome more than 100+German women. Angela, Simone, Jen and Edurne have encouraged us from God’s Word and their own lives. It was so good to know that no matter where we come from; we are created in His image, God wants to have a personal relationship with us and pour out His love and blessing in us so that we may be a blessing for the people around us. And how does He want to do that in our lives? By focusing on Him every day, in every phase of our lives. To clear our pitchers like the woman from 2 Kings 4: 1-7 and to be filled by Him. He wants to give abundantly. Are we looking for Him every day? Do we read His Word? We can obey Him. This is how His light can shine through us.”
