Ephesians 1:15-18
15 For this reason, because I have heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love[a] toward all the saints, 16 I do not cease to give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers, 17 that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the knowledge of him, 18 having the eyes of your hearts enlightened, that you may know what is the hope to which he has called you, what are the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints,
SOAP – Ephesians 1:17
Paul prays that the church of Ephesus will grow in the spirit of wisdom and knowledge of God. The Word of God reveals this wisdom and knowledge. This is the highest knowledge that a believer can have. The Word of God is life, because it reveals God and His purposes. We are able to read and understand God’s desire towards us. Believers must make prayer and studying God’s Word a priority in order to be aware of the wonderful promises and treasure within it.
What knowledge are you pursuing right now? What has your attention? Have you begun to exalt yourself and your desires above God? Will you ask God daily to realign your heart with His?
Father God, give me a deep love for prayer and for Your Word. Give me a passion for understanding it and sharing it. Pour out Your wisdom upon me that I may rightly divide Your Word encouraging and uplifting others with it. Lord, help me to walk in Your Word, that I may not deceive myself by becoming one who only hears Your Word but does not obey it. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
