Isaiah 6:1-6

In the year that King Uzziah died I saw the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up; and the train of his robe filled the temple. Above him stood the seraphim. Each had six wings: with two he covered his face, and with two he covered his feet, and with two he flew. And one called to another and said: “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts; the whole earth is full of his glory!” And the foundations of the thresholds shook at the voice of him who called, and the house was filled with smoke. And I said: “Woe is me! For I am lost; for I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips; for my eyes have seen the King, the Lord of hosts!” Then one of the seraphim flew to me, having in his hand a burning coal that he had taken with tongs from the altar.

SOAP – Isaiah 6:5
Isaiah when faced with the holiness of God was made utterly aware of his own sin and failings. The presence of our Holy Almighty God reminds us why we need a Savior. A believer’s heart must be so inclined towards the Lord through prayer, so that we will quickly and easily confess those things in our lives that do not glorify Him. So many distractions in this world and in this culture threaten to pull us away from God. We are constantly bombarded by viewpoints, images, and ideals that contradict those in the Bible. It is easy to find our hearts straying from God and towards those things that satisfy our flesh, our appetite, and our desires. Believers must remain diligent and steadfast in seeking God and keeping His desires for us forefront in our minds.

In what areas of your life are you prone to wander and stray from God’s Word? Will you begin today to place more value and time spent in prayer and memorization of Scriptures to assist, guide, and redirect yourself if you happen to stray?

Father God, cleanse my heart of the things that do not reflect You. Create in me a willingness to learn and memorize Your Word so that I may do your will. When my heart strays, take hold of me quickly and guide me back to You. Remind me daily that prayer and Your Holy Word is my lifeline and my connection to You. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
