Each year at Christmas time, you set out to find the perfect gifts for your loved ones, hoping they will feel seen, cared for, known, and loved through your generosity. Each year, you may hope to receive the perfect gift as well. But what if the perfect gift has already been given to us? What if we can already feel seen, cared for, known, and loved by the One who offers us this Gift?
“All generous giving and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or the slightest hint of change” (James 1:17).
Jesus Christ is the perfect gift! God gave us the perfect gift in Jesus, and we celebrate His birth at Christmas. Through Him we can have freedom from sin and death, and also hope, faith, joy, and peace.
Because of Jesus we have the opportunity to receive incredible gifts from God, our heavenly Father. Jesus Himself is the greatest gift God has given us, yet God didn’t stop giving us gifts with Jesus. He has also given us many more gifts, gifts we receive when we trust in Jesus. As we prepare our hearts for the celebration of Jesus’ birth, we can fix our minds and hearts on the gifts He has given us.
The Greatest Gift Given is a six-week Bible study designed to prepare our hearts to celebrate the greatest gift of all: Jesus Christ. This study focuses on the character of God, our great Giver, and what it means to live a life of gratitude. As we move into the season of Advent we’ll study a few of the gifts God has given us in Jesus, each corresponding with the weeks of Advent: hope, faith, joy, and peace.
