“Your eyes saw me when I was inside the womb.

All the days ordained for me

were recorded in your scroll

before one of them came into existence.”

Psalm 139:16

In Genesis 49, we see Jacob at the end of his life speaking words over his sons’ lives. These words reflected who they were, what they had done, and what they—and their descendants—would be. Some received profound blessings and others received curses. Their actions had consequences. Some good and some bad. Those who hurt others received their due, and those who did good were rewarded for what they had done.

Joseph, who was betrayed by his brothers, was given blessings and prophecies that were profound and comforting. He was blessed like he was the first son.

God sees. We are never forgotten. No tear falls unnoticed by God. Our SOAP verses tell us that even before our mothers knew they were carrying us in their wombs, God saw us. He was the one who formed and crafted us. Before any event happens, God knows and He has them recorded. That is the God you and I have come to believe and trust.

There will be storms, raging waters, tears, and pain but know this: restoration is assured. What you are going through now is preparing you for what God has planned.

God needed a leader who, in wisdom and trust in Him, would preserve the world from starvation caused by famine. From the accounts in Genesis of Joseph, we know he was a privileged child. The sufferings he went through built in him the strength and wisdom to be able to be the ruler and deliverer God needed him to be. God already knew who Joseph would be, as Psalm 139:16 tells us, but Joseph needed to go through a season of preparation. That preparation did not end in sorrow but in joy and restoration of everything he lost and more.

God is working, dear sister. All of our days are before Him. If anyone can be trusted to follow His script, it is God. How do I know that? Because we have a God who has planned a beautiful future for us. He has great plans for us, and He gives us a future filled with hope. We see His faithfulness to do this throughout the history of His people, and we can be confident He continues to do this in our lives today.

Do not allow the present to blind you from the future that God has already written.

Oh, what a glorious and beautiful thing to be seen by the God of the universe and to have our lives already planned out by Him. With the help of the Holy Spirit, we can ask God for wisdom to live His plan for our lives, trusting Him every step of the way. Trusting that He restores and does not forget our pain and suffering.

I’ll close with one of my favorite verses from the Bible:

“And we know that all things work together for good for those who love God, who are called according to his purpose.Romans 8:28

Let’s personalize this verse together to build our confidence in the restorative power of Jehovah.

And I know that all things work together for good for me, who loves God, and I am called according to His purpose.

Hallelujah.

Rest, dear sister. God has this!

Praise the LORD!
