Maybe you’re called to go to your living room, to your office, to that friend who just won’t stop popping into your mind.
Maybe that “go” is to the same places you already walk—just with open eyes, a softened heart, and the courage to speak the name of Jesus.
Jesus doesn’t just send us. He stays with us.
There’s something sacred about parting words.
They tend to stick. They carry weight. Whether it’s a whispered goodbye in a hospital room, a commission from a mentor, or even a quiet charge to your child as they step into the unknown—last words are meant to be remembered.
That’s what we find in Matthew 28.
Jesus had just conquered death. The tomb was empty. And He met His disciples on a mountain—not to comfort them into stillness, but to send them into mission.
“Go and make disciples of all nations…”
It’s bold. Sweeping. Cosmic in scope.
But what makes it even more striking is who He says it to.
Verse 17 tells us some of the disciples worshiped Him… and some doubted.
That line hits me every time. Because I can relate.
I’ve had moments of full-throttle faith and moments where I’ve quietly wondered: Am I really equipped for this? What if I mess it up?
And yet this is the crowd Jesus commissions. Not just the confident, but the unsure. The hesitant. The half-in, half-scared disciples who still showed up.

The Mission: Ordinary People, Eternal Impact

Jesus didn’t say, “Go be impressive.”
He said, “Go make disciples.”
And not just converts or event attendees—He invites us into discipleship: walking with people, teaching them how to obey Jesus, and baptizing them into a new identity.
It’s a divine invitation to partner with God in what He’s doing in the world.
And it doesn’t require a plane ticket or a theology degree.
It might look like:
Opening your home for Bible study, even when it’s messy
Raising kids to know Jesus, even when you’re exhausted
Speaking truth into a friend’s heartbreak
Leading a group at church even though you feel underqualified
Sharing your testimony on Instagram even when your voice shakes
Discipleship is rarely flashy—but it’s always sacred.

My Mission Field Has a Toddler-Sized Footprint

If I’m honest, one of the reasons motherhood has been so exhausting—ha!—is because it has challenged me to be intentional 24/7.
Intentional to teach her about Jesus.
About how to count and what colors are.
To pray for others and be kind.
To see the world as more than just background noise, but a place where God is present and inviting us to live differently.
Today, diaper-changing time became a counting lesson—we counted toes.
When we read her “Mountain Baby” book, we name the plants, mushrooms, worms, ladybugs, flowers, and sun.
In the car, when we see someone experiencing homelessness or an ambulance speeding by, we pray—with our eyes open, of course!
On the playground, we talk about what it means to be friendly and share “because that’s what Jesus would do.”
We teach her that our ears are for listening to Mom and Dad’s instructions—just like Jesus used His ears to listen to His Father and obey, even to the cross.
It’s hard. It’s beautiful. And honestly? It’s sanctifying.
Because in intentionally discipling her, I’m reminded of the gospel truths I need too.
It’s not just shaping her—it’s shaping me.

A Life-on-Mission Metaphor

I once heard someone describe the Great Commission like a boarding pass. Once you’ve received it, you’re meant to go. But going doesn’t always mean leaving your zip code—it just means stepping out with intentionality.
“And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”
That’s not just a comforting thought—it’s the fuel for our mission.
You are never going alone. Every conversation, every obedience, every messy attempt at faithfulness is accompanied by the presence of the risen Jesus.
So if you’re doubting? You’re in good company.
And if you’re willing to go—even limping, even scared—you’re already living into the call.

A Simple Challenge

What does “go” look like in your life right now?
Ask God to show you where He’s already working—and how He might be inviting you to join Him.
And when in doubt, remember: it’s not about being perfect. It’s about being present.
Jesus goes with you, every step of the way.
