“For just as in one body we have many members, and not all the members serve the same function, so we who are many are one body in Christ, and individually we are members who belong to one another.”
A Christ-centered friendship should be a friendship that builds you up, edifies you, and spurs you on in your journey of faith. God has equipped us each with unique and various gifts, and He wants us to use the gifts He has given us to bless His church.
What are some of the gifts God has given you? How and where are we using these gifts? Do the people around you benefit from these gifts or are you hoarding them for yourself?
God’s Word says our gifts are to be used to serve one another. God gave them to us not for ourselves but for His body. Our gifts add value, support, and encouragement to the lives of others, specifically to our friends.
We become good stewards of the gifts God has given to us when we use our gifts to serve those around us: our friends, family, and the world at large. After all, Romans 12:4-5 says we belong to one another.
I encourage you to view yourself as a manager of God’s gifts. I encourage you to be generous with the gifts He has given you. I encourage you to pass your gifts around, using them to the betterment of those He has placed in your path.
Dear Father, thank You for the gift of Your Word and for the reminder of the gifts You have given me. Please forgive me for every time I have hoarded those gifts. Help me today and always to use them to add value to those I encounter. Thank You, Father. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
