My man and I sat in the car in front of an available house I had discovered online. We’d been searching for a place to land for weeks. Our wedding was ten weeks away, and I had rented my tiny townhouse to a friend. I’d packed up all my belongings and prayed for God to show us where we were going to set down roots as husband and wife.

We waited and prayed, but I had absolutely no idea what our next steps should be. In 48 hours, I was going to move out of my townhouse, and I had nowhere to go. I was anxious and feeling a little lost.

As we waited for the realtor, I mentioned to Bruce, “It’s painted green. You know, green is my favorite color.” Ten minutes later, I walked through the front door and immediately felt peace wash over me as I stood in the living room. This was home. I knew it.

I am typing these words in that same living room eleven years later. We rented the green house, then four years later, God made a way for us to own it.

Friend, are you in a season of waiting? Are you wondering what is next? Is your future uncertain? Maybe like I did, you feel like a nomad with no safe place to lay down your head and find peace.

God sees you, and He will always make a way for you.

Like Abraham, we can know for certain God has a home for us, and our final destination is filled with peace. We may not know what our next step is right now, but God will guide us step by step. Faith means sometimes moving forward trusting God will see us through when we don’t understand where we’re going.

The people of God were homeless and lived in exile for hundreds of years, but God always brought them out of captivity. God let Abraham know his salvation was certain and his future inheritance was sure. Just like Abraham, we can look back and see how far God has brought us and believe He is faithful to keep His promises.

Today, we can rest assured God is still bringing us out of bondage to idolatry and leading us to life abundant. Christ came as a babe and died on a cross to set us forever free from the strongholds of sin. As we yield our all to the Lord, the fire of the Holy Spirit will guide us step by step.

Keep the faith, my sisters. One day soon, we will be home sweet home in the presence of Jesus for all eternity.

  1. What a timely message this Thanksgiving Day. Life in this pandemic has many uncertainties but God knows, sees, and cares for us day in day out. He is the great provider and promise keeper. So thankful for His presence in my life. Thank you, Father, for everything.

    1. Amen to that sweet Mitzi! It may feel like we are in the middle of a storm but we are held tight by the one who speaks peace into the chaos. Kirsty – LGG Encourager
