Rely on the Lord! Be strong and confident! Rely on the Lord!
Into the Text
I know waiting isn’t easy.
Whether it’s waiting for direction, a door to open, or an answer to prayer—waiting while relying on the Lord to move can feel like standing still while the world rushes ahead. And yet, it’s in those quiet in-between days that God stretches and strengthens our trust in Him.
David knew a lot about waiting. He also learned to rely on the Lord all his days. Psalm 27 comes from the heart of a man who faced betrayal, danger, and delay. But even in fear and uncertainty, David clung to who God was—a faithful, covenant-keeping God who never left his side. That’s why he could boldly say, “Rely on the Lord! Be strong and confident!” It wasn’t passive or frustrated—it was strength under control. It was wisdom in action.
Waiting, in God’s eyes, isn’t wasted time—it’s holy ground. It’s in these sacred stretches of waiting that God shapes our character. He builds endurance, deepens our trust, and draws us into a faith that’s no longer dependent on outcomes—but anchored in a relationship with Him. Our prayers become more honest. Our dependence is more real. And our hearts slowly shift from “God, when will You move?” to “God, help me stay with You while You work.”
That’s where wisdom comes in. We need wisdom to trust that God is just as present in the waiting as He is in the breakthrough.
So remember, our strength in the waiting doesn’t come from figuring everything out. It comes from fearing the Lord, anchoring our hearts in His faithfulness, and trusting His timing over our own. The Hebrew idea of waiting isn’t passive—it’s active, expectant, and filled with hope.
