Make sure you are very strong and brave! Carefully obey all the law my servant Moses charged you to keep. Do not swerve from it to the right or to the left, so that you may be successful in all you do.
Into the Text
This is one of my all-time favorite verses. I daily need to be reminded to be strong and brave. I know living in a fallen world can be challenging. Our hearts yearn for heaven on earth and for all wrongs to be made right.
It is easy to become discouraged and feel overwhelmed by the difficulties we face. But when we take courage and trust in the Lord, finding our strength and power in God’s Word, we can be assured that He will guide us and give us the strength and power to overcome the problems we face.
Our first step is turning to God’s Word, our sword of the Spirit. God has equipped us with everything we need to live a victorious life. We need to learn how to use what He has given. God knows that this world is not our home and that in it we will face many trials and tribulations.
He has given us the power of His Word. We see in Genesis how powerful God’s Word truly is. God spoke into the dark nothingness that existed and created the entire universe (See Genesis 1). What a beautiful reminder that God’s Words are powerful and can bring about the changes we need to make in our lives, too.
Prayer
Dear Lord Jesus, thank You for giving us the sword of the Spirit. Help me not to swerve to the right or left, but stay focused on You and obey Your Word in all areas of my life.
