Sweet sister,
As mothers, one of the most bittersweet tasks we face is sending our children out into the world. It’s a beautiful, yet challenging moment when we entrust them into God’s hands, knowing they have a special purpose to fulfill – to further the gospel with the unique gifts God has blessed them with.
Their mission, just as it was for the disciples and us, is to make disciples, to forge relationships that draw others to God. We have the privilege of teaching them that God uses ordinary people to do extraordinary things. Our homes become the training ground where these truths are sown into their hearts.
Though it is hard to let our children go, we know that God is the one who ultimately has them. He has been writing their stories since before they were born. He loves them even more than we ever could. Our role is not to hold tightly to our children but to open our hands and entrust them to the One whose sure and steady grip will never falter.
As our children grow up and eventually leave our homes, whether it’s for school, a job, or for the mission field, it’s important they understand that the God who calls them also walks with them. They will never walk alone.
Prayer
Dear Jesus, as I prepare to send my children out into the world, I ask for Your guidance and protection over them. Help them to live out their purpose for Your glory and to be disciples who make disciples. Give me the strength to lead by example, showing them Your love and faithfulness in every step of the way. Amen.
