For by grace you are saved through faith, and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God; it is not from works, so that no one can boast.

Ephesians 2:8-9

Into the Text

In Paul’s letter to the Romans, he gives a clear picture of our need for a Savior and how salvation occurs. This is known as the Romans Road.

Romans 3:23 presents that we are all sinners. We all think, say, and do things that do not please or honor God.

Romans 6:23 shows that our sin deserves the just punishment of death. However, God offers us the gift of salvation through Jesus Christ.

Romans 5:8 reminds us that salvation is because of God’s great love for us through Jesus’ sacrificial death on the cross and subsequent resurrection.

Romans 10:9-10 and Ephesians 2:8-9 show us how a person is saved by grace through faith. All that is required is a recognition of our sin, confessing the sin to Jesus, trusting in His salvation, and asking Him to make us new and to be in charge of our lives.

It’s at this moment that we are saved and cross over from death to life. God no longer views us by our sin but by Christ’s righteousness.

The biggest thing to remember when sharing the gospel is that we are to faithfully share the truth in love. It is God working through the Holy Spirit in a person’s life that leads to life change. The gospel is the greatest news.

Prayer

Jesus, thank you that salvation is a gift of grace through faith. I thank you that your sacrifice paid the debt I deserved to pay and that I can now have a hope and a future. Amen.
