Ordering Our Days with God’s Wisdom

Commit your works to the Lord, and your plans will be established.

Proverbs 16:3

Into the Text

Some days, my life feels like a blur.

I wake up with good intentions. But before my feet hit the floor, the texts start rolling in. My kids need something. My to-do list grows faster than I can keep up. And somewhere in the middle of it all, I silently wonder…Is this what my life is supposed to feel like? Am I really in God’s will for my life?

If your heart feels rushed or restless too, hear this: you’re not alone. And you’re not failing. You are simply living in a world that’s constantly pulling you in a thousand directions. But God offers us a better way—not one of constant pressure, but one of peace rooted in His presence.

Proverbs 16:3 gently invites us to commit our works to the Lord. The word commit in Hebrew (galal) literally means “to roll.” It’s a beautiful image—rolling our burdens, our plans, and our schedules onto God, trusting that His hands are wiser and more capable than ours will ever be. It’s not about adding more to our plate. It’s about handing Him the plate altogether, and letting Him decide what stays and what needs to go.

You see, wisdom isn’t just about managing our time better. It’s about surrender. It’s choosing to let God guide our steps instead of racing ahead on our own. Proverbs 16:9 reminds us that “a person plans his course, but the Lord directs his steps.” And that’s the key—when we invite God into our calendars, our chaos, and our calling, He brings order to the mess. He realigns our hearts with what truly matters.

When we seek His wisdom, He doesn’t just show us how to spend our time. He teaches us how to live—fully present, fully surrendered, and fully rooted in Him. He shows us the difference between what is urgent and what is eternal. And that clarity? It brings freedom. Peace. Margin. Joy.

Maybe today isn’t about reorganizing your planner or getting more done. Maybe today is simply about pausing long enough to pray, “Lord, this day is Yours. I trust You to lead me in it.”

Because when we commit our days to Him, He doesn’t just establish our plans—He establishes us. He anchors our hearts in His peace, His presence, and His purpose.
