Sweet sister,
One of the most profound gifts we can give our children is the model of a life shaped after Jesus. It’s more than just sharing Scripture. It’s letting them see God’s Word in action in our daily lives as we choose to follow after Jesus above all else.
In our homes, in our relationships, in the way we handle challenges, our children are watching. They’re learning what it means to live out authentic faith, even in its imperfection. Our children need to see us stepping out in faith, relying on God, and witnessing His answers to our prayers. God answered prayers in the past, and they need to see that He is still in the business of answering prayers in our lives, too.
Jesus, in His earthly ministry, showed us the importance of discipleship. He walked with His disciples, taught them, let them serve alongside Him, forgave them, and loved them. He did life with them day in and day out. In the same way, we’re called to “do life” with our children, too. Our homes are not just living spaces. They are the most important place of ministry. Our home is our ministry headquarters.
As we put God’s Word into action in our lives, we’re training our children to do the same. What we value, they will hopefully come to value, too. As we choose to live lives that honor God, we’re showing them what it looks like to impact the world for Christ.
Sweet sister, let’s strive to live lives that echo Jesus’ love and grace. Let’s be intentional in building relationships with our children, just as Jesus did with His disciples, guiding them, loving them, and showing them the way.
Prayer
Dear Jesus, help me to model my life after You so that my children may see Your love and truth lived out in me. Give me the wisdom and strength to guide them, to show them Your ways, and to nurture them in Your truth. Amen.
