When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them because they were bewildered and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Therefore ask the Lord of the harvest to send out workers into his harvest-ready fields.”
Into the Text
Sweet sister,
One of the most beautiful ways we can pass our faith on to our children is by including them and doing ministry with them. Working together to expand God’s kingdom, glorifying Him as a family, and demonstrating the compassionate heart of God is at the center of how Jesus discipled His disciples.
In our everyday lives, we have countless opportunities to model Christ-like love and service. It’s in how we speak, how we act, and how we pray. It’s showing our children that faith is about walking forward and trusting in God even when we can’t see the whole path. It’s about teaching the vital importance of being connected to God’s family as well as how to listen for God’s voice in Scripture and to recognize His answers to our prayers.
But most importantly, it’s about helping our children see people through Jesus’ eyes – with love, compassion, and understanding, despite their brokenness or struggles. It’s showing them that every person they meet is someone Jesus created, died for, and loves deeply.
So let’s encourage our children to be workers in God’s harvest. By understanding that God’s love reaches even the darkest places, we can help our children see others as people who are deeply loved by Christ and in need of His redemption.
Together, as a family, we can make a significant impact in the lives of others, sharing the love and compassion of Jesus in a world that so desperately needs it.
Prayer
Dear Jesus, help us as a family to see and love others as You do. Help us show compassion by sharing Your message of hope and redemption. May we serve together, expanding Your kingdom and glorifying Your name. Amen.
