Making Known the Mystery of the Gospel

Pray for me also, that I may be given the right words when I begin to speak—that I may confidently make known the mystery of the gospel.

Ephesians 6:19

Into the Text

The closings of Paul’s epistles are parts that many people quickly read over. They typically include Paul’s closing statements, greetings to others, and reports of his friends on his missionary journeys. God has preserved these words in Scripture for a reason, and they are very relevant to our lives today.

In Ephesians 6:19, Paul asks for prayer that he would have courage every day to speak the gospel boldly wherever he finds himself. Paul shows us that without God’s help, we can do nothing, and that we must constantly keep the gospel at the forefront of our minds and life.

It can be very easy to become complacent and comfortable with our mission. But our mission is not over. There are still people who have never heard of Jesus before. There are those who need a reminder of God’s love. Others need to be welcomed into the family of God.

The only way we accomplish this is by sharing the hope of Jesus Christ, the good news of the gospel. That means your work isn’t done.

You have been saved by grace and have a story to tell. As Paul sent out his companions to share the truth of Jesus with the churches of their day, you, too, have been sent out to be an ambassador of Christ.

I pray that the words of Ephesians have encouraged you and equipped you to know your Savior, your story, and your mission to live to the fullest of all that Christ has for you.

Prayer

Jesus, thank you for the words of Ephesians. I pray that each day you would give me boldness to speak the gospel wherever you have me. Amen.
