The Lord is near the brokenhearted; he delivers those who are discouraged.
Into the Text
I’ve had days when my heart felt shattered and my mind wouldn’t stop racing with what-ifs. You know those days. Days when sleep won’t come and peace feels out of reach. It’s in those moments that I’ve clung to the truth found in Psalm 34:18: God is near to the brokenhearted
When anxiety hits, it’s easy to feel alone. Like everyone else has their life together, and you’re the only one barely holding on. But take heart, sweet friend—Scripture gently reminds us: we’re not alone, and our pain is certainly not unseen.
Psalm 34:18 tells us, “The Lord is near the brokenhearted.” He sees you. He knows the heaviness you carry. And He doesn’t wait for you to be brave before He draws close—He comes into the fear, into the worry, into the unknown. He is near right now.
It is important to remember that wisdom doesn’t come from figuring it all out. It comes from turning our eyes toward the One who already has. Seeking His face in the middle of our heartbreak and letting His Word become our anchor, not just our backup plan.
Casting your cares on Him takes courage; I know it’s not always easy. But don’t believe the lie that fear keeps you from His love. Sometimes, it’s in our most fearful places that His love wraps around us the tightest.
So take the next step—however small—and bring your anxious thoughts to the Lord. Whisper a prayer. Open His Word. Seek His wisdom. And as you do, remember: you are not alone. He is near. And He will help you through this.
