But the Lord is faithful, and he will strengthen you and protect you from the evil one.
Into the Text
There is a difference between being alert and living in fear. We are called to live aware of the spiritual battle that rages all around us and impacts us in our physical world. But we are not to be afraid of it.
Yes, we have an enemy, and his aim is our destruction. But we do not live in fear of him or what he could do to us, for we know that Jesus, the One who lives in us, is greater than our enemy (See John 16:33).
God has no equal. God is limitless. Satan and his demons are limited. Having an accurate view of God is critical to our level of faith. If we view God as weak or limited, our willingness to trust Him and believe that He is faithful will also be weak and limited. If we don’t view God as all-powerful, it will be hard to have faith in His strength and protection.
Our faith must be grounded in reality, the truth of God and what He has said and done in the Bible. When we trust that, we will be able to grow in our knowledge of and faith in God. As our view of God grows, so does our faith.
Even though we live in a world filled with temptation and danger, we can rest assured that God is always there to protect and strengthen us.
When we take up our shield of faith and put our trust in the Lord, we know without a doubt that God is with us and He will never leave us or forsake us. God is faithful and true, and He will always and forever be there to guide us and protect us from the evil one. With the Lord on our side, we can face any challenge or trial that comes our way.
