“The angel of the Lord camps around the Lord’s loyal followers and delivers them.”
Into the Text
Even though God’s name is not mentioned in the book of Esther, His presence is unmistakable. After three days of fasting and prayer, Esther stepped into a moment that could have cost her life. She entered the inner court of the palace uninvited, risking everything. But before she even spoke a word, something amazing happened—King Ahasuerus extended grace to her and welcomed her with favor.
Though Esther had prepared herself through prayer and fasting, it was ultimately God who went before her, softening the king’s heart. Her beauty and character had already won his approval, but it was her faith in God that gave her the courage to walk boldly into the unknown. This moment reminds us that no matter how much we prepare or plan, only God has the power to change hearts and circumstances.
Sweet friend, how often do we step into situations, trusting in our own strength and forgetting that it is God who paves the way before us? Psalm 34:7 reminds us that the Lord surrounds and protects those who fear Him. Just as He encamped around Esther, He surrounds us today—leading, guiding, and preparing every detail. Our role is to trust, obey, and rest in the assurance that God is already at work, even when we cannot see it.
Are you facing a situation where you need God to go before you? Take heart. He is faithful, and He will prepare the way. Trust that His presence is with you, and let His peace carry you through whatever lies ahead.
Prayer
Dear Jesus, thank you for going before me, even when I can’t see what lies ahead. I’m so grateful that you are always working, lovingly preparing each step and every detail of my life. Help me to trust you completely, especially in moments of uncertainty. Teach me to trust you fully, knowing that you are always working for my good and your glory. Amen.
