He alone is my protector and deliverer. He is my refuge; I will not be shaken.

Resting in God sounds beautiful. But let’s be honest—it’s not always easy.
Sometimes, even when we know we should rest in His presence, our minds keep spinning, our hearts stay heavy, and our hands grow tired from trying to hold everything together. Rest can feel like a luxury that is not meant for us.
Psalm 62 invites us into true rest, a kind of rest that doesn’t depend on our circumstances but on our Savior. True rest is rooted in His sovereignty, knowing God is in control and we are not. He is unshaken by what shakes us. And because He never sleeps or slumbers, we don’t have to live in constant fear trying to hold it all together. This type of rest is not passive; it’s an active choice to trust Him more than we trust ourselves. When we choose to trust God, we learn to lean on His promises instead of our own plans, and in doing so, we find safety not in our own strength but in His loving arms.
I love how David speaks this truth in the middle of uncertainty. He doesn’t pretend everything is fine—he just reminds myself where to look: “Wait for God alone, my soul!” Sometimes, we need to stop and speak those words to ourselves too.
Wisdom calls us to stop striving and slow down long enough to remember that we are not God. We were never meant to carry what only He can hold. And it’s in that surrender—in that choosing to be still before Him—that we begin to taste the peace our hearts and minds are longing for.
So sweet friend, if finding rest feels hard today, you’re not alone. God isn’t asking you to pretend everything is okay—He’s simply inviting you to come as you are. Bring Him the tired, anxious part of you that doesn’t know how to let go or move on. You don’t have to have it all together to be held by Him. He is your refuge, your steady place, and your rest—right there with you in the midst of your busy life.
