And in all of this, by taking up the shield of faith with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one.

Some days, it can feel like we face one battle after another. But then, just when it seems like we’ve been given a break and we can raise our heads above the water and catch our breath, another wave comes crashing down on top of us.
Our world can be dark, volatile, and exhausting, with many battles seeking to bring us down. But we do not need to live in fear. God, in His love and mercy, has given us the ultimate weapon to stand strong in the midst of our battles: the shield of faith.
The belt of truth and the shield of faith are strongly connected when it comes to spiritual warfare. In order to take up the shield of faith, we need to know the truth and the promises of God. Faith is an inner conviction, the response to what we know is true.
When we hold tight to God’s Word and respond in faith, the shield of faith is able to protect us from the fiery arrows that the enemy shoots our way. These arrows can come in the form of doubt, fear, temptation, and much more. But when we trust in the Lord and know His Word, we are equipped with the knowledge, strength, and courage to withstand any attack.
Prayer
Dear Lord Jesus, thank You for equipping us with just the right weapons to defeat the spiritual attacks that come our way. Give me a desire to know Your Word so that I can hold up my shield of faith when the fiery arrows come my way. Help me to not only know what Your Word says, but to have the faith to believe it and stand strong under the covering of the shield of faith. Amen.
