Don’t be afraid, for I am with you! Don’t be frightened, for I am your God! I strengthen you – yes, I help you – yes, I uphold you with my saving right hand!
Into the Text
Can you imagine living your life without fear? What would it look like? How would it change? I know it’s crazy to try and imagine our lives without fear and yet, God tells us over and over again not to fear. Choosing to live without fear is yet another way we can choose to live a life that is set apart for God’s glory.
When we are bold in our faith and take God at His Word, we choose to live counter to the culture of the world. Unfortunately, the world wants us to live as prisoners, tied up and tangled up in fear: fear of our futures, fear of the “what ifs” that plague our minds in the middle of the night, and fear of not having enough or being enough.
Yet, in Isaiah 41:10, God tells us not to fear. Why? Because He is with us. He is our strength. He is our help. He is the one who is powerful enough to hold us up. And because of this truth, we don’t have to live in fear. God knows our future, and He is already there. No matter the struggles, challenges, or heartache that may come our way, we are never alone.
Don’t rehearse your fears. Instead, rehearse God’s promises.
When you can grasp that truth, you can confidently face any challenge, any obstacle, and any circumstance that comes your way. Choose today to live fearlessly, knowing that God is by your side. When you choose to take God at His Word instead of giving in to despair, when you choose faith over fear, you choose to live set apart.
Prayer
Dear Jesus, thank You for the promise that You are with us and that You will strengthen and uphold us. Help us to live boldly, without fear, embracing the life You’ve called us to. Amen.
