Into the Text
Right before Jesus ascended into heaven, He gave His disciples a mission. This mission, known as the Great Commission, is about sharing the gospel and helping others grow in their faith. It was a command for the disciples, but it is also a command for believers today. Our lives are meant to be in service of making Christ known and showing His love to those near and far from us.
As we deepen our relationship with God, we are transformed. As we experience God’s daily grace and mercy, we find ourselves longing for our loved ones to experience the same grace, mercy, and salvation we have found in Jesus. By sharing the gospel, we are not just participating in an act of love, but we are also sharing the gift of eternal life through Christ.
Jesus’ directive in Acts 1:8 further emphasizes this mission. This promise of the Holy Spirit’s empowerment is a comforting assurance that we are not alone in this task. We are equipped through the Holy Spirit to be His witnesses, starting from our local communities and reaching out to the farthest parts of the world.
Sharing the gospel is a powerful way to love those in our lives. The Great Commission calls us to make disciples, baptize them, and teach them to follow Jesus. This mission means having personal conversations, serving others, and supporting global outreach. Ultimately, sharing the hope that is found in the gospel is the greatest act of love.

Dear Jesus, thank you for the mission you have given to me. Empower me with your Holy Spirit to be a courageous and loving witness of your truth. Help me to share the gospel with those around me and support the spread of your message globally. In your name, Amen.
