Tuesday: Life or Death Found in Our Words

Read: Proverbs 12:18, Proverbs 18:21

SOAP: Proverbs 18:21

Proverbs 18:21 – “Death and life are in the power of the tongue,
and those who love it will eat its fruits.”

Our tongues have power. They have the power to give life and the power to kill. It´s our personal decision to make, and a big responsibility because we are all influencers. Maybe we don´t have a social media platform to spread our message, but we have a sphere of people around us who are influenced by our words.

We can use our words to comfort, encourage, teach, and instruct. We can use them to speak life into those who are hurting, to share the Gospel with those who have no hope.

But we can also use them in a harsh way. We can use them to lie and to gossip. We can speak in anger and hurt others with the things we say. We have the power to do both good and evil with our words.

We can choose the words we say and how we´re going to influence others with them but remember that we reap what we sow. We will eat the fruits of our words. I challenge you today to be consciously aware of the power of your words and to make the decision to speak life through them.

Dear Father, please help me speak life with my words. Help me be a godly influence in the lives of those around me. In Jesus’ name, amen.
