Proverbs 22:1-5  1 A good name is to be chosen rather than great riches, and favor is better than silver or gold. The rich and the poor meet together; the Lord is the Maker of them all.3 The prudent sees danger and hides himself, but the simple go on and suffer for it. 4 The reward for humility and fear of the Lord is riches and honor and life. 5 Thorns and snares are in the way of the crooked; whoever guards his soul will keep far from them.

SOAP – Proverbs 22:1

A believer’s good name and reputation are worth more than wealth or riches. It doesn’t matter how much money a person makes or what people think of them. We all will be judged by God our Creator. On judgment day, our reputation will be based on our decision to accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. Our good name will only matter if it is written in the Book of Life. We must ensure that we care more about what God thinks about us than what others think.

What is your reputation in God’s eyes? God is no respecter of persons.  There will be no distinctions made by wealth, class, employment, color, sex, or age. All are equal. The only separation that will be made will be between those who follow Jesus and those who do not. If you have taken the name of Jesus Christ as a Christian, you will receive eternal riches and eternal life.

Father God, I thank You for the gift of salvation.  Empower me to represent You well to a lost and fallen world.  Just as there are no distinctions in Your eyes, Lord keep me from judging people based on their race, age, economic status, or appearance.  Give me the boldness to continue sharing the gospel of salvation so that many others can take on Your name as Father and develop the reputation of serving Your Son. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
