“But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.”– 1 Corinthians 15:57

Before Joshua and the rest of the men approach Ai, God speaks to Joshua and tells him that He´s already given them the city. Can you see the difference this statement makes? He fought with his heart set on victory. No matter how hard the people of Ai were willing to fight back, Joshua knew the battle belonged to God (1 Samuel 17:47).

  1. L. Moody said, “God never made a promise that was too good to be true.”

We have a similar promise in Scripture. 1 Corinthians 15:57 says that God has given us the victory through Jesus Christ. In all our struggles and difficulties, our heart can be set on victory.

Through Jesus Christ we have victory over sin, we have victory over guilt, and we have victory over death. Our sins have been forgiven and we have the promise of eternal life with God. Death, sin, and guilt are defeated enemies that have no control over us anymore. We, like Joshua, have been given victory before the battle starts.

Heavenly Father, I praise You because You loved us so much that You sent Your Son Jesus Christ to die on the cross so I could have eternal life. Thank You for loving me and caring for me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
