“Then Joshua said to the people, “Consecrate yourselves, for tomorrow the Lord will do wonders among you.”– Joshua 3:5
How many times have you heard the words “be holy”? We know we’re called to be holy. We hear and read and memorize all the verses about being holy, about consecrating our lives to God, about living in integrity…and then we do our own thing.
Satan is not concerned about us knowing all the verses. He is not worried by people who know how to live a holy life but don’t do it because it’s not what anyone else around them is doing. I heard Pricilla Shirer once share that we need to pursue holiness and honor God instead of impressing people.
Friend, we need to look for the applause of heaven even if it means going against the tide. They may say we are weird, foolish, or crazy. But we’re to pursue holiness and live consecrated lives for God. This is what Joshua was telling the people. God was going to do wonders among the people, but they had to be willing to sanctify themselves and live a righteous life.
Oh Lord, please, forgive me for all the occasions when I´ve disguised myself and lived according to the world instead of acting according to the Word. Father help me live a righteous life and honor You in everything I do. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
