“By faith Rahab the prostitute did not perish with those who were disobedient, because she had given a friendly welcome to the spies.”– Hebrews 11:31
I love the story of Rahab! She was a prostitute, a woman not many people would have wanted to associate with. And yet, not only is she praised because of her faith, but she is also in the line of Jesus, the Messiah (Matthew 1:5).
When the two spies arrived in Jericho, they surely didn´t expect to receive help from someone like Rahab – a woman, a pagan, a prostitute. But today´s Scriptures show us that faith is for everyone. The good news of grace and redemption are for everybody, even for those who, to our eyes, have “big” sins. We tend to forget that “where sin increased, grace abounded all the more” (Romans 5:20). And Rahab´s story reminds us of that truth.
Rahab tells the spies that she had heard about their God. She put her faith in the true God, and it was her faith that saved her. My question to you today is this: Are others hearing about God from you? Is your life a testimony of the grace and redemption Jesus offers to everyone?
Dear God, help me live the Gospel. Help me be living proof of Your love, Your grace, and Your mercy. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
