Read: 1 Corinthians 1:26-31; Proverbs 3:5-6; Isaiah 40:28-31; Jeremiah 17:5-8
SOAP: Proverbs 3:5-6

Trust in the Lord with all your heart,
and do not lean on your own understanding.
In all your ways acknowledge him,
and he will make straight your paths. Proverbs 3:5-6

We live in a world that values individualism. Asking for help appears weak. However, according to Scripture, we do not have to rely on our own strength.

1 Corinthians 1:26-31 discusses how God chose to use the weak, foolish, and poor of the world to show the world how insignificant human achievement is compared to salvation. God accomplishes great things through ordinary people. He gives the weary strength.  Since it is God who raises us to new heights, we have no right to boast.  Those who claim accomplishments on their own neglect God’s role in their life, but when we acknowledge the Lord, He will take us to places we never thought possible.

In what ways have you tried to rely on your own strength instead of allowing God to help you?  The Lord wants to help you.  Will you allow Him?

Father God, there are times in my life when I try to push You away.  You place others in my life to encourage me, but I often do not respond to them.  Help me be open to You and to those around me. Help me rely on You.  I acknowledge I cannot live this life by my own strength.  In Jesus’ name
