Read: 2 Thessalonians 1:5-8
SOAP: 2 Thessalonians 1:6-8 “Since indeed God considers it just to repay with affliction those who afflict you, and to grant relief to you who are afflicted as well as to us, when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven with his mighty angels in flaming fire, inflicting vengeance on those who do not know God and on those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus.”
God is righteous, and the affliction we are facing today is will come to an end. Suffering for the Christ follower is temporary. One glorious day soon, Jesus will return with an army of angels to rescue His followers and bring judgment on those who choose to reject Him and continue glorifying sin.
Jesus is returning to set everything wrong in this world right. Wickedness will not reign forever. When you grow discouraged by the suffering you see today, remind yourself God’s righteous rule is coming soon to restore our earth and make all things new.
Righteous God, help me to rest in Your sovereign power when I am saddened by temporary suffering. Thank You for the gift of redemption. I look forward to the day when You return in flaming fire to rescue us once and for all. Amen.
