Week 2: A Life of Gratitude
Monday: Give Thanks to the Lord
Read: Psalm 107
SOAP: Psalm 107:21–22
Let them give thanks to the Lord for his loyal love,
and for the amazing things he has done for people.
Let them present thank offerings,
and loudly proclaim what he has done.
Devotion:
Do you find yourself entering this season with a weary heart, feeling like you’ve been wandering, exhausted, in distress, troubled, and looking for a light in the darkness? The world around you might be bustling with joy and excitement, but you’re looking for a place of refuge to rest and recover from the weight of all that you’ve carried this year.
God understands, and He invites you to come into His perfect rest. Your weariness and frustration is not new to Him, and He will not be surprised by your very honest feelings and heartache. Read our Scripture passage today and enter your name everywhere it says “those” or “them.” The same way God delivered and provided for those who wandered in the desert He is prepared to deliver you.
What a gift! God’s heart is for you to be free from burdens, free from the darkness, and free to proclaim with thanksgiving all that He has done in your life so that others might draw closer to Him. Your story of thanksgiving could be the very light someone in your life needs most this holiday season to move them toward the freedom and restoration God so willingly offers.
Prayer:
Father God, today, even in the middle of my mess, when I feel like I’m still wandering, I want to proclaim Your goodness, Your great gifts, and Your amazing love. Thank You for knowing me, loving me, and inviting me into Your perfect rest. Amen.
