James 1:5-8     5 If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you. 6 But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. 7 That person should not expect to receive anything from the Lord. 8 Such a person is double-minded and unstable in all they do.

SOAP – James 1:5-8

There is a danger associated with doubt. We can become double-minded and unstable. When we doubt that God is righteous and good, we will not be willing to obey and serve Him.  Believers must cling to the biblical truth about who God says He is in His Word. Our God is in control at all times, and He is good, trustworthy, and just.

In what circumstance are you struggling to believe God’s goodness? A believer’s strength during uncertain times comes from trust and faith in God’s sovereignty and inherent goodness.

Father God, I thank You for Your power and glory in my life.  Remind me that anything and everything good in my life is solely because of You.  Help me to focus on You and not my circumstances. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
