Luke 6:12-15           12 One of those days Jesus went out to a mountainside to pray, and spent the night praying to God. 13 When morning came, he called his disciples to him and chose twelve of them, whom he also designated apostles: 14 Simon (whom he named Peter), his brother Andrew, James, John, Philip, Bartholomew, 15 Matthew, Thomas, James son of Alphaeus, Simon who was called the Zealot,

Romans 12:11       11 Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord.

SOAP – Romans 12:11

One of the lesser known disciples was Simon the Zealot, who was noted to be a member of the Zealots, a fanatic Jewish group who would kill in loyalty to Israel. After following Jesus, Simon’s fervor was transformed into an overwhelming passion for Jesus.

Father God, by Your Spirit empower me to experience a hunger and thirst for You and Your Word. Surround me with people who are zealous for You.  Lord, ignite my passion for prayer, worship, and an intimate walk with You. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
